Does iCAP® replace the traditional CAPWAP®?

iCAP® does not replace traditional CAPWAP®. Rather, iCAP is based on signal matching. Primarily, engineer’s use iCAP to analyze driven piles of moderate length (less than 30 or 40 m). The piles must have known uniform cross sectional properties, as well as sets per blow between 2.5 and 10 mm (30 and 120 blows/ft).

In comparison to iCAP, the CAPWAP program offers more sophisticated features. These features include radiation damping, residual stress analysis, as well as slacks or impedance changes. An analyst, by using their engineering judgment, can decide whether a reasonable capacity estimate can be determined with iCAP or if CAPWAP is needed.
