For cross-hole sonic logging, what is the maximum spacing between the transmitter probe and the receiver probe?

Neither engineer nor researcher has established the maximum acceptable distance between transmitter and receiver probes. Some have performed tests with tubes spaced over 3 meters a part. Nevertheless, if an engineer installs fewer tubes to increase spacing, defects may be missed. This is because signals can bend around defects.
