Q

How is the pile weight accounted for in dynamic testing?

A

Dynamic testing does the same thing that a static load test does: it determines the additional load that can be placed on the pile top. One just ignores the pile weight and determines with the test what additional loads can be placed on the pile top. An exception would be if we would have a long pile on top of which we make our load test and then we cut off a long pile top section; then you can add the discarded pile weight to the test load. This is different for a static soil analysis where we calculate the loads that can be supported on the pile in addition to the pile weight.
