Does iCAP® replace the CASE Method?

To some extent. iCAP® is a signal matching program, so its results do not depend on unknowns like the JC factor. However, depending on the blow rate of the hammer, iCAP results will not be available for every blow during the test, so the CASE method is used for the blows not analyzed by iCAP. On the other hand, iCAP will provide the JC factor that correlates to the iCAP result for the blows analyzed, and this JC factor can then be used to improve the reliability of the CASE method for the other blows. iCAP also determines maximum compression and tension stresses along the pile length, replacing the closed form Case Method solutions.
