What factor of safety is recommended for dynamic tests?

Generally, the code, standard, or specification determines the factor of safety. Some codes require the same safety factor for dynamic tests as for static tests, as specified in the USA code for building, known as the International Building Code. Other codes specify slightly higher factors for dynamic tests. For instance, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Standard Specification for Highway Bridges requires a safety factor approximately 10% higher than that required for static tests.
