Can TIP be performed if there is only a single center reinforcing bar installed in a Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) pile or Augered Cast-in-Place (ACIP) pile?

Engineers can use a single Thermal Wire cable to test small diameter shafts (augercast piles), if there is a single central reinforcing bar. Nevertheless, the optimal time to test decreases as the diameter decreases. As a result, the peak temperature may occur only a few hours after placement. Engineers performing TIP™ on these piles should use Thermal Wire® cables because of the small window of optimal testing. In addition, the Thermal Wire® cables are less difficult to install than access tubes.
