What is the best time for Thermal Integrity Profiling (TIP)?
For assessing overall shape, the measurements near the time of peak temperature are preferred. Defects are best detected relatively early in the curing process; typically about half the time required to reach peak temperature. The optimum time is unknown a priori, so recording the temperatures at frequent periodic intervals allows searching the data for the best possible evaluation.
Using the Thermal Wire® cables allows recording temperature versus time so the entire temperature versus time history can be inspected and both shape and defect evaluation are then easily possible.
