Q

What are the advantages of using a magnetic flow meter to measure the amount of grout installed in an augered cast-in-place or continuous flight auger pile, as the Pile Installation Recorder (PIR) does, over the method of counting pump strokes?

A

The Magnetic Flow Meter measures the volume of the grout installed in the pile. It is a direct measurement, not a calculation based on pump operation, and therefore does not require consistent grout pump operation for accurate results. Additionally, all grout flow is recorded and saved in electronic form where it occurred in the pile and can be reviewed at a later date.
