Pile driving is an important and challenging part of the construction of offshore oil platforms. Long piles are driven to deep penetrations in a difficult environment, often with physical and time constraints.
GRL starts with a GRLWEAP driveability study to advise on the selection of an optimal hammer and cushion system. During pile driving, GRL monitors the actual efficiency of the hammer and the stiffness of the driving system with special underwater strain transducers and accelerometers connected to a Pile Driving Analyzer® (PDA). To ensure continuity of offshore operations GRL provides backup equipment and personnel to the site. After pile driving GRL completes the dynamic load test by performing CAPWAP® analyses for an immediate assessment of the pile skin friction and end bearing. GRL often repeats the dynamic load test during a pile re-strike.
