GRL Engineers perform Wave Equation Analyses (GRLWEAP) to find the relationship between bearing capacity, pile stress and blow count, known as the “bearing graph.” Given the blow count from pile installation logs, the bearing graph yields the bearing capacity. Given a required ultimate capacity, the bearing graph indicates the associated blow count. The bearing graph also shows the maximum tension and compression stresses.

GRL Engineers also use the GRLWEAP software to perform driveability analyses. A driveability analysis produces a safe prescription for pile installation, including recommendations on cushion stiffness, hammer stroke and other driving system parameters that optimize blow counts and pile stresses during pile driving (for example if a soft or hard layer causes excessive tension or compression stresses or unacceptable blow counts).

The founders of GRL developed GRLWEAP – GRL Engineers are experts in the use of this software program. GRL often performs these analyses within 24 hours of a client’s request.
